African Airports get constructions upgrates - UPGRADE
Analysis
SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - Kenya Airports Authority announced it would invest KES250 million to expand the Isiolo airstrip into an international airport. Works are tentatively scheduled to commence in Jan-06 and be completed in 18 months, including:

Extension of the current runway;

Construction of a new 1,500 m runway;

Extension of the apron from 200 sqm to 350 sqm;

816 sqm passenger terminal;

1,000 sqm cargo terminal;

2,000 sqm aircraft maintenance hangars;
-
Perimeter fence;
-
4,000 sqm car park.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Government announced it received Federal Government approval to commence construction of a second runway at Port Harcourt International Airport .
