Pratt & Whitney Shares in Sichuan Airlines V2500 Order

East Hartford, Conn. (PRATT & WHITNEY) - Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Company (NYSE:UTX), will share in an order for International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500 engines to power an additional two Airbus A319 and four A321 aircraft. With this order, Sichuan Airlines becomes the China launch customer for V2500SelectSM and will extend this aftermarket agreement to cover their existing fleet of 14 V2500-powered Airbus A320 family aircraft. The deal is worth more than $370 million to IAE.

"Sichuan Airlines was the China launch customer for the V2500 and the Airbus A320. All of us at Pratt & Whitney and IAE are delighted to continue our partnership with Sichuan for a long time to come."

Under their V2500SelectSM agreement, Sichuan Airlines will also become the inaugural China operator to introduce the SelectOne build standard of engines delivered after mid-2008.

Lan Xinguo, chairman of Sichuan Airlines, said: "IAE's V2500 is the most technologically advanced engine in this market and has proven its reliability through an admirable in-service performance. Combining this engine with an industry-leading aftermarket agreement will, we are sure, provide Sichuan Airlines with further performance gains and cost savings."

The V2500-A5 is available in seven different thrust settings ranging from 22,000 to 33,000 pounds of thrust to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet.

IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney (NYSE: UTX), Rolls-Royce (RR.L.), the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines. More than 1,300 V2500-powered aircraft have been delivered and the worldwide fleet has accumulated over 40 million flying hours.
