Low Cost Airports - AirAsia to help build new Malaysian low cost airport
Several airports, notably in countries such as Malaysia with a strong LCC presence, continue to announce plans to provide and expand dedicated LCC infrastructure. However, some LCC-focused airports are beginning to feel the negative effect of the economic slowdown, and the associated bankruptcies and capacity reductions by LCCs. So far, the hardest hit airports have been in Europe, with Copenhagen Airport (with the collapse of Sterling), Riga International Airport and Warsaw International Airport all feeling the pressure in the past couple of months.
