Italian airport traffic up strongly in January; TAV shares still falling

Airport traffic in Italy is showing encouraging signs, with most major airports in the country reporting significant growth during Jan-2011. Milan Malpensa passenger traffic rose 9.0%, while Venice Marco Polo Airport passenger traffic was up 9.2%. Florence Airport's numbers were up just 2.8%.

Shares in Aeroporto Toscano, operator of Pisa airport, fell 1.7% in trading on Monday. Aeroporto di Venezia and Gemina shares were flat. Aeroporto di Firenze (Florence) rose 1.3%.

TAV Holdings shares continue to fall. The company's stock declined 3.4% yesterday, putting it down more than 15% over the past two weeks. TAV is exposed to the political turmoil in North Africa through its airport holdings in Tunisia.
