International Airlines Group traffic up 6.3% in March

Analysis

International Airlines Group (IAG) reported that passenger numbers in Mar-2011 grew 6.3%, with strong increases in premium traffic (RPKs) (+18.1%) significantly eclipsing the growth in non-premium travel. The traffic results reflect in part strike action at British Airways in Mar-2010. IAG shares were down 1.5%, on a generally weaker day for European airline shares.

Shares in Dart Group, parent of Jet2.com rose 3.9%. The company commented it believes it will trade in line with market expectations in the current financial year, despite the cancellation of North African services, higher fuel costs and continued consumer uncertainty.
