Indonesia to revoke soon Pertamina's monopoly rights over airline fuel

JAKARTA (XFNews) - The government plans to revoke soon the monopoly rights held by state oil and gas company PT Pertamina for selling airline fuel, Bisnis Indonesia reported quoting Transport minister Hatta Rajasa.
The minister was quoted as saying that a regulation is being drafted to open up the business for competition, and that several companies have expressed an interest.
As a pilot project, the government will soon select two or three companies to supply airline fuel at the Djuanda airport in Surabaya, East Java, he said.
The move is part of the government's plan to liberalize the downstream sector in order to attract foreign investment.
The government had also planned to revoke Pertamina's monopoly rights to sell other fuels nationwide from this year, but the company secured a one-year extension.
