Boston Logan International Airport sees rising domestic traffic in March. Search begins for new CEO

International passenger numbers declined by 8.3% year-on-year to 265,779 last month. The international markets, which have seen reduced traffic include Central America by 36.3%, the Caribbean/Bahamas/Bermuda by 34.8% and Europe by 1.3%.

Domestic passenger numbers increased in Mar 2011 by a healthy 10.6% to 2.1 million, continuing the airport's solid domestic performance.

Aircraft movements rose in Mar 2011 by 7.2% to 30,798, reflecting the strong domestic market.

Search for a new CEO

The traffic performance report coincides with an announcement by airport operator Massport that it has retained Boyden Global Executive Search to assist in identifying candidates for the position of CEO/Executive Director to replace Thomas Kinton Jr, who is expected to retire on or about 01-Jun-2011. A screening committee is also tasked with identifying an interim CEO candidate, if one is needed.

Massport owns and operates Boston Logan International Airport, public cargo and cruise terminals in the Port of Boston, Hanscom Field and Worcester Regional Airport, which generate more than USD8 billion in revenues annually.
