Alitalia dismisses idea of sale to Air France-KLM

Analysis

Italian national carrier Alitalia has once again moved to quash rumours of a sale to Air France-KLM, which controls a 25% stake. The carrier's Chairman - and a stakeholder - Roberto Colaninno stated the carrier is not interested in a sale to its partner airlines and does not foresee anything of the sort occuring, as the airline improves its operations and results.

European airline shares were lower, with sharp falls at all major carriers. Aeroflot dropped 6%, while flybe, SAS Group and easyJet all fell by more than 4%.
