Airport shares down worldwide; Vienna Airport, Macquarie Airports, Ferrovial go against the trend

Shares in airports and airport-related businesses worldwide were generally down yesterday, with airport duty free operator, Dufry falling 4.1% and Mexico's airport operator, OMA, falling 4%.

New Zealand's infrastructure investment company, Infratil, lost ground yesterday, after reporting another month of disappointing traffic results across its investment airports in New Zealand and Europe:

  • Passenger numbers:
    • Wellington Airport 415,031, -3.2% year-on-year;
      • Domestic: 367,669, -3.7%:
      • International: 47,362, +1.5%.
    • Glasgow Prestwick: 181,873, -29% year-on-year;
    • Lübeck: 78,860, +28%;
  • Cargo volume:

Meanwhile positive performers on the stock market yesterday included Vienna Airport (+2.3%), Macquarie Airports (+1.4%) and BAA parent, Ferrovial (+1.0%).
