Time to focus on revenue improvement: Amadeus
09 November 2006) Damian Hickey, an executive with leading travel distribution firm Amadeus, counselled the assembled airline leaders at Outlook 2007 that keeping their focus on costs would be harmful, if not accompanied by revenue enhancement strategies. “There are not much more costs that can be taken out of the system,” he noted, “but there are tools available to help drive greater yield generation.”
Mr Hickey, Vice-President of Amadeus’ Airline Business Group, noted that the trend would damage bottom lines if not addressed through enhanced distribution and related tools, like CRM. “The tendency to look at passengers not as customers, but as self-loading freight, is going to minimise yields and revenues,” he cautioned.
Outlook 2007 is the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation’s annual examination of the prospects for the Asia Pacific airline industry.
