Zimbabwe pilots strike causes cancellations

Air Zimbabwe's pilots commenced talks with management on 09-Sep-2919 to resolve a dispute over the non-payment of allowances that were cut off in Feb-2010 (Reuters/BBC News, 09-Sep-2010). The pilots were reportedly being paid at least USD1,200 a month, but the carrier could not afford to pay the full USD2,500 salary. Strike action, which commenced on 08-Sep-2010, left two aircraft abandoned on Harare International Airport's runway. The strike continued into 09-Sep-2010, and has caused several cancellations.
