Zhukovsky Airport opens cargo logistics complex

Zhukovsky International Airport opened (09-Jul-2020) a new logistics complex for cargo operator Zhukovsky International Airport Cargo (ZIA Cargo). The complex comprises a 9200sqm cargo terminal and 90,000sqm apron. The apron will be able to serve four Boeing 747 type aircraft or six medium sized aircraft. The new infrastructure will allow to handle up to 100,000 tons of freight daily. Sky Gates Airlines will be the base cargo carrier. Ramport Aero chairman Boris Alyoshin said ZIA Cargo is a commercial effective division of the airport with partnerships with most Russian cargo carriers. The deployment of the apron and establishment of a base carrier will allow to significantly increase the rate of development. Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said under the hub model, cargo arriving at the airport on long haul aircraft will be sorted and delivered to cities in Russia and Europe on medium and short haul aircraft.
