WestJet had previously paused the implementation of non-reclining seats on its Boeing 737 fleet and planned to carry out a testing phase for fixed recline economy seats in winter 2025/26 to gather operational data and guest feedback before proceeding with further cabin changes1. The cabin modernisation programme for 737 MAX 8 and 737-800 aircraft included new seating configurations, in-seat power, and WiFi installation, with completion targeted for the end of 20252.
