Western Australia Tourism Minister: 'Aviation is vital to us'
Western Australia's Minister of Tourism Reece Whitby, speaking at Routes Asia 2025, described (25-Mar-2025) Perth as Australia's "western gateway" and a "fast growing aviation hub". Mr Whitby noted Perth is strategically positioned at the crossroads between Australia and Asia Pacific and its importance to Western Australia's economy "cannot be overstated". He said "aviation is vital to us" for local, domestic and international connections, noting that 95% of visitors arrive by air.
