Volaris reports operating loss in 1Q2018

Volaris reported (20-Apr-2018) the following financial highlights for three months ended 31-Mar-2018:

  • Total operating revenue: MXN5850 million (USD312.3 million), +2.7% year-on-year;
    • Passenger: MXN5533 million (USD295.4 million), +2.3%;
    • Non-passenger: MXN317 million (USD16.9 million), +8.7%;
  • Total operating costs: MXN6757 million (USD360.7 million), +5.1%;
    • Fuel: MXN2175 million (USD116.1 million), +14.9%;
    • Aircraft and engine lease: MXN1596 million (USD85.2 million), -6.1%;
  • Operating profit (loss): (MXN906 million) (USD48.4 million), compared to a loss of MXN729 million (USD38.7 million) in p-c-p;
  • Net profit (loss): (MXN1118 million) (USD59.7 million), compared to a loss of MXN1318 million (USD70.0 million) in p-c-p;
  • Passengers: 4.3 million, +7.5%;
  • Passenger load factor: 82.2%, -1.0ppt;
  • Total operating revenue per ASM: MXN 115.7 cents (USD 6.18 cents), -7.7%;
  • Fare revenue per ASM: MXN 76.9 cents (USD 4.11 cents), -13.2%;
  • Fare revenue per RPM: MXN 93.5 cents (USD 4.99 cents), -12.1%;
  • Operating cost per ASM: MXN 133.7 cents (USD 7.14 cents), -5.4%;
  • Cost per ASM excl fuel: MXN 90.6 cents (USD 4.84 cents), -9.1%;
  • Total assets: MXN22,841 million (USD1219 million);
