Vladivostok Airport new international terminal to open in Jul-2012

Russia's Vladivostok International Airport stated (03-Jul-2012) its new Terminal A international passenger terminal development is close to completion and will commence operation later in Jul-2012. Construction of the new 47,500sqm terminal started in Aug-2009. The terminal has capacity for 3.5 million passengers p/a and will increase overall international passenger capacity by 30% and domestic capacity by 70%. Commercial areas make up 30% of the terminal area. A railroad connection allows air express trains to arrive directly to the terminal building. Netherlands Airport Consultants Consortium (NACO) has developed an airport master plan for development through to 2030, envisioning traffic reaching 10 million passengers p/a. RUB6.3 billion (USD195.6 million) has been invested in the project, with Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport the largest investor. In 2008 52.2% of Vladivostok Airport shares were transferred to the control of Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport. [more - original PR]
