Virgin America reports first quarterly net profit in 3Q2010

Virgin America revenue jump 28% - financial highlights for the three months ended 30-Sep-2010:

  • Revenue: USD202.1 million, +28.0% year-on-year;
  • Operating costs: USD181.1 million, +18.5%;
    • Fuel: USD59.2 million, +26.9%;
    • Aircraft rents: USD30.1 million, +14.9%;
    • Labour: USD27.1 million, +15.8%;
  • Operating profit: USD21.0 million, +314.4%;
  • Net profit: USD7.5 million, compared with a loss of USD5.9 million in p-c-p;
  • Passenger numbers: 992,194, -3.6%;
  • Load factor: 84.3%, -2.3 ppts;
  • Average fare: USD185.30, +33.1%;
  • Yield: USD 11.20 cents, +19.7%;
  • Total revenue per ASM: USD 10.37 cents, +16.9%;
  • Passenger revenue per ASM: USD 9.44 cents, +16.4%;
  • Cost per ASM: USD9.29 cents, +8.1%;
  • Cost per ASM excl fuel: USD 6.25 cents, +4.7%;
  • Average sector length: 1,592 miles, +13.1%;
