Vietnam's Ministry of Transport included Da Nang Airport in its master plan to expand the national airport system, aiming to accommodate 30 million passengers annually by 20301. Da Nang People's Committee estimated a USD1.34 billion investment for airport upgrades, including the T3 terminal project, which would enhance the airport to a level 4E international standard according to ICAO regulations2. The Airports Corporation of Vietnam also planned a third terminal to increase capacity to 28 million passengers and 200,000 tonnes of cargo annually by 20303.
