Vienna International Airport pax down 2%, cargo down 6% in Jan-2013; winter weather cause of decline

Austria's Vienna International Airport passenger numbers down 2% - traffic highlights for Jan-2013:

• Passenger numbers: 1,374,156, -1.7%;
• Cargo volume: 17,953 tonnes, -6.4%;

The airport also reported (14-Feb-2013) a 2.4% decline in transfer passengers to 456,868 during the month. Vienna Airport attributed the decline in traffic to severe winter weather conditions. Passenger traffic to Eastern Europe rose by 2.9% and traffic to Western Europe declined 1.6%, while the Middle East recorded an increase of 2.7% in Jan-2013.
