Airlines for America asked the US Department of Transportation to convene a special meeting under the US/EU air services agreement and issue a show-cause order unless Ireland introduced emergency legislation to suspend or remove Dublin Airport’s passenger cap by early Feb-2026, warning of potential slot withdrawals and trans-Atlantic service reductions.1 2 Aer Lingus said a CJEU advocate general found the 32 million p/a cap legally sound, and urged the Government to accelerate legislation enabling the Transport Minister to remove it.3
