American Airlines, in partnership with US Customs and Border Protection and Sydney Airport Authority, piloted the International Remote Baggage Screening (IRBS) programme on its Sydney-Los Angeles service, allowing passengers to bypass baggage claim and recheck in the US, with plans to extend the process to other cities1.
