Uriel Aviation Holdings VC: 'The LCC business model is meant to be a selfish one'

Uriel Aviation Holdings vice chairman Andrew Cowen, speaking at the CAPA LCCs in North Asia Summit, stated (12-Jun-2018) "The LCC business model is meant to be a selfish one" but said it can be worthwhile to collaborate with other LCCs if airlines want to avoid becoming isolated and niche. Mr Cowen clarified: "A niche position that is profitable and earning well is perfectly legitimate". The VC noted that the number of trips per capita in North Asia is still relatively low and said if LCCs in the region can collaborate to collectively stimulate trips per capital to reach the global average "we will have more demand than any of us can handle".
