Recent projects involving Imperial College London, Rolls-Royce and Airbus UK have targeted contrail mitigation through improved contrail modelling, sensor technology and optimised sustainable aviation fuel use, with funding from the Aerospace Technology Institute's Non-CO2 Programme1. EUROCONTROL, Airbus and Thales launched ContrailNet to create a common repository of contrail observation data and establish standardised annotation methodologies2.
