India was identified as having significant ethanol supply and the potential to become a key producer and exporter of sustainable aviation fuel, with capacity to manufacture up to 40 million tonnes of SAF by 2050, according to IATA's Preeti Jain, who called for prioritisation of feedstock for SAF production1. IATA's Hemant Mistry also highlighted India's large ethanol production and its suitability as a feedstock for SAF2.
