Thai AirAsia 2Q2016 income up on pax growth and lower fuel costs, ancillary revenue up 17%

Thai AirAsia attributed (15-Aug-2016) growth in net income in 2Q2016 to increased passenger numbers and a significant decrease in fuel costs. Ancillary revenues increased 17% year-on-year to THB1323.9 million (USD38.2 million), mainly due to growth in passenger numbers, checked baggage fees, online processing fees and inflight food and beverage revenue. The average airfare decreased 5% to THB1550 (USD44.8) per passenger due to promotional fares for new routes. CASK decreased 6% due to reduced fuel costs. [more - original PR]
