Swedavia inaugurates new terminal 2 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport inaugurated (23-Apr-2013) the new terminal 2. The terminal has expanded by more than 2000sqm and has an enhanced F&B and retail offering. In 2015, a new baggage sorting facility will also be inaugurated, with Swedavia as a result investing SEK400 million (EUR46 million) in the refurbishment of terminal 2. Stockholm Arlanda Airport director Kjell-Åke Westin said: "The new Terminal 2 has all the potential to be a favourite for many passengers. It takes no more than 15 minutes to get from the train, bus or car to the gate. Along with this smooth flow, passengers will get the feeling of being at a cosy little airport contained in a big one. We are pleased that terminal 2 now helps to enhance the overall impression of the airport". The renovation also includes a new lounge on the upper level. Stockholm Arlanda's terminal 2 was inaugurated in 1990 and was used at that time as the domestic terminal. Since then, there have been a number of modifications, and over time the terminal has been in growing need of a total makeover. The refurbished terminal will be used by a number of airlines, including British Airways, KLM, Air France and Finnair. [more - original PR]
