Vietnam's Ministry of Construction asked Kien Giang Province to accelerate a public-private partnership upgrade and expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, following a Sep-2024 proposal targeting capacity of 10 million passengers and 25,000 tonnes of cargo p/a by 2030, rising to 18 million passengers and 50,000 tonnes by 20501. Airports Corporation of Vietnam also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sun Group to support operations for Sun PhuQuoc Airways, including ground handling and passenger services2.
