Star Alliance sets deadline for Air India membership

Star Alliance confirmed it has set a 31-Jul-2011 deadline for Air India to meet the alliance's membership requirements or it will withdraw its invitation to the carrier (ABTN, 11-May-2011). The alliance has twice extended Air India's deadline to meet its requirements, with the carrier's membership process now lasting more than four years. Merging Air India and Indian Airlines operations has proved troublesome for the carrier.
