Southwest confirms retirement of final 737-500 aircraft in early Sep-2016
Southwest Airlines confirmed (05-Sep-2016) its final Boeing 737-500 aircraft was retired from the fleet on 05-Sep-2016. The retirement of the 737-500 marks a "major milestone" in Southwest's fleet modernisation plan, which includes the accelerated retirement of the classic fleet.
