South Korean LCCs reports 21% market share for nine months to Sep-2013

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs reports (23-Oct-2013) South Korean LCCs had the following market share for the nine months ended Sep-2013:

  • LCCs market share: 21.2%;
    • LCCs domestic market share: 48%, +4.7 ppts;
    • By route:
      • Gimpo-Jeju: 58.9%, +3.2 ppts;
      • Gimhae-Jeju: 72.7%, +7.4 ppts;
      • Gimpo-Gimhae: 50.1%, +6.6 ppts;
      • Cheongju-Jeju: 42.8%, +4.4 ppts;
      • Gunsan-Jeju: 52.4%, +0.3 ppt;
      • Incheon-Jeju: 11.3%, +7.2 ppts;
    • LCCs international market share: 9.5%, +2.3 ppts;
    • Market share on top routes by passengers carried by LCCs:
      • Incheon-Bangkok: 25%, +2.2 ppts;
      • Incheon-Osaka: 19.6%, +3.8 ppts;
      • Incheon-Fukuoka: 25.3%, +4.0 ppts;
      • Incheon-Guam: 51.8%, +18.3 ppts;
      • Incheon-Cebu: 23.2%, +15.8 ppts;
      • Incheon-Hong Kong: 7.5%, -0.8 ppt;
      • Incheon-Tokyo: 9.3%, +4.8 ppts
      • Gimhae-Fukuoka: 52.7%, +26.5 ppts.
