Singapore's Transport Minister sees 'intense competition' between aviation hubs

Singapore's Minister of Transport Khaw Boon Wan noted (15-Feb-2016) greater competition among aviation hubs with the rapid rise of new hubs. Mr Khaw said six of the top 10 busiest international hubs are now in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Mr Khaw said: "Such intense competition poses major challenges to both emergent and established air hubs. Waning fortunes as an air hub in a re-aligned global air network could mean a hollowing out of the aviation ecosystem that is built around the hub." [more - original PR]
