The levy was scheduled to be introduced in 2026 as part of legislative amendments to the CAAS Act, with the aim of providing cost certainty to air transport users through a fixed quantum. All collected levies were to be channelled into a dedicated SAF Fund for procurement and management of sustainable aviation fuel and related attributes by CAAS or a central procurement entity, with further implementation details pending announcement1.
