Singapore Airlines pax up 7%, load factor up 2 ppts in Aug-2012; cargo down

Singapore Airlines passenger numbers up 7% - traffic highlights for Aug-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.5 million, +6.5% year-on-year;
  • Passenger load factor: 78.3%, +1.7 ppt;
    • East Asia: 77.3%, -2.2 ppts;
    • Americas: 85.9%, +5.8 ppts;
    • Europe: 81.8%, +3.4 ppts;
    • South West Pacific: 73.6%, -1.3 ppt;
    • West Asia and Africa: 67.9%, +4.0 ppts;
  • Cargo volume: 95,700 tonnes, -2.4%;
  • Cargo load factor: 60.6%, -1.7 ppt;
    • East Asia: 48.8%, -5.7 ppts;
    • Americas: 63.4%, -0.7 ppt;
    • Europe: 70.2%, +1.0 ppt;
    • South West Pacific: 59.3%, -0.9 ppt;

Singapore Airlines: "Load factors improved across most regions on the back of strong summer demand and earlier Lebaran holiday travel. PLF for East Asia and South West Pacific route regions declined as growth in demand was outstripped by the increases in capacity.
