Singapore Airlines pax numbers up but pax load factor down in Jan-2012, cargo down 6.5%

Singapore Airlines reports (15-Feb-2012) the following traffic highlights in Jan-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.5 million, +1.7% year-on-year;
  • Passenger load factor: 77%, -1.1 ppts;
    • East Asia: 70.7%, -2.7 ppts;
    • Americas: 78.1%, +0.8 ppt;
    • Europe: 78.6%, +0.8 ppt;
    • South West Pacific: 84%, -1.9 ppts;
    • West Asia and Africa: 72.7%, -2.6 ppts;
  • SIA Cargo:
    • Cargo volume: 87,400 tonnes, -6.5%;
    • Cargo load factor: 58.5%, -2.9 ppts;
      • East Asia: 53%, -2.6 ppts;
      • Americas: 62.4%, -2.2 ppts;
      • Europe: 66.2%, -2.0 ppts;
      • South West Pacific: 50.5%, -1.7 ppts;

Singapore Airlines: "Overall cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonne-kilometres) was 12.8% lower than the same period the previous year, while cargo capacity decreased by 8.5%. All regions were affected by the seasonal slowing of airfreight activities due to the Lunar New Year holidays which was in January this year compared to February in 2011."
