Schiphol to conduct large scale maintenance of runway 06/24

Royal Schiphol Group announced (08-Mar-2017) large scale maintenance on Amsterdam Schiphol Airport's runway 06/24 from 18-Mar-2017 to 24-May-2017. Following the maintenance, the runway will be swept over the course of ten nights ending on 13-Jun-2017. The runway will be closed to air traffic during both periods of the works, which include:

• 225,000sqm of new asphalting;
• Laying of an antiskid top layer;
• New cabling and replacement of the main drainage system;
• Renovation of the sides of the runways;
• Renewal of hidden gullies;
• Restoration of the entire 1500 lamp installation, to be replaced with an energy efficient alternative. [more - original PR - English/Dutch]
