Saudia well positioned, but weaknesses and threats remain

CAPA - Centre for Aviation, in a report entitled: 'Saudi Arabian Airlines SWOT: of tourism, dual brand & airports', outlined (02-Jul-2018) the following strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for Saudia:

  • Strengths: Very strong position in fast growing market, improved inflight product following fleet renewal, dual brand strategy following the launch of flyadeal and extensive network;
  • Weaknesses: Infrastructure constraints, particularly in Riyadh, the phasing out of fuel subsidies will increase costs and a relatively weak brand;
  • Opportunities: The new Jeddah terminal, further fleet renewal with Boeing 787-10s and A320neos and anticipated growth in tourism;
