The UK Competition and Markets Authority launched an investigation into Ryanair over fees parents paid to sit with children, including those with disabilities, and assessed whether this was an unfair contract term under consumer law, citing typical charges of about GBP8 each way.1 Ryanair previously defended its approach to ancillary revenues and optional seat fees, arguing pricing policies encouraged passengers to travel with less baggage and only pay for preferred seats.2
