Russia's President approves order on development of Far East services and establishment of carrier

Russia's President Vladimir Putin approved (14-Jan-2020) the following orders, to be carried out by the Prime Minister by 31-Jan-2020:

  • Submit proposals on the establishment of an airline operating with Russian made aircraft to the Far East Federal District and difficult to reach locations;
  • Determine a network of regional and local air services, taking into consideration airports the reconstruction of which is included in the plan for the modernisation and expansion of infrastructure. Potential demand on the routes must also be estimated;
  • Determine the timeframe, volume of serial production, and the cost of delivery, ownership and deployment of aircraft required for the operation of regional and local domestic services and for the needs of the carrier;
  • Conduct work on the creation of the right conditions for the organisation of air services at remote locations in the North West, Ural, Siberian and Far East federal districts;
  • Consider the planning and launch of the serial manufacture of Baikal aircraft based on TVS-2DTS prototype, and its certification;
  • Prepare proposals on the implementation of measures aimed at reducing the end cost of aviation fuel in the Far East Federal District and difficult to reach locations. [more - original PR - Russian]
