Rio de Janeiro Governor expresses concerns at airport development

Rio de Janeiro's Governor Sergio Cabral stated airports in the city must be improved to avoid "a disaster" for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics (Bloomberg, 17-Dec-2010). Mr Cabral added Infraero isn't equipped to make the improvements and the concession to operate them should be assigned to private companies. Rio de Janeiro plans to sell international bonds to assist in funding infrastructure improvements before the major sporting events, and is evaluating the timing.
