Qatar Airways to introduce 'Super Business Class' seat in Dec-2016

Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker, speaking at a press conference for the launch of Doha-Sydney service, said (03-Mar-2016) it would launch operations with its new patented 'super business class' seat in Dec-2015. Mr Al Akbar said the Super Business Class seat would likely debut on a Boeing 777-300ER, and then be followed by A350s, with a retrofit programme across all its aircraft beyond this point. "Then we have a retrofit programme where we will retrofit every aircraft in the fleet", Mr Al Akbar said, noting that the retrofit will occur at a rate of "three aircraft a month." Mr Al Baker claimed the new cabin will offer a first class product at a business class fare. The introduction is subject to safety testing of the new seats.
