Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker, told the BBC Hardtalk programme the carrier would "cancel the orders" for B787 aircraft" as Boeing has been "continuously delaying the delivery" (Maktoob Business, 30-Nov-2009). The carrier has firm orders for 30 B787s and options for an additional 30 B787s. In Oct-2009, Mr Al Baker stated the carrier expects to take delivery of four B787s by the end of 2011.

Qatar Airways: "I am not playing with words…I want my aircraft earlier…We gave them ultimatum to accept the conditions because they have been continuously delaying the delivery. If this is the way they treat customers they will not only miss me but other countries as well," Akbar Al Baker, CEO. Source: Maktoob Business, 30-Nov-2009.
