Qatar Airways CEO advocates more diversified supply chain

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker, on the sidelines of the CAPA-ACTE Global Summit, stated (27-Oct-2016) to media that Airbus and Boeing should invest to have "a more diversified supply chain". Mr Akbar said the supply chain is now "very limited" with only one manufacturer for certain parts such as brakes and actuators. Mr Akbar said supply chain issues have impacted the A320neo programme. Qatar cancelled its first A320neo order earlier this year following delivery delays and Mr Akbar said it could take a year for a fix to be implemented.
