Australia has seen recent progress in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) initiatives, including the largest commercial SAF import into the country in May-2025, supporting Qantas' target of 10% SAF use by 2030 and collaboration with Sydney Airport to develop a domestic SAF industry1. Qantas and Airbus have also committed AUD15 million to a venture capital fund to accelerate SAF and decarbonisation technology development in Australia2.
