Port Harcourt Airport receives certification and operational licence

Port Harcourt International Airport received (14-Jul-2026) full certification and an operational licence from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, confirming its compliance with ICAO standards. Port Harcourt Airport manager Lynda Ezike commented: "More international airlines can now operate into Port Harcourt with confidence, knowing that the airport meets internationally recognised safety requirements". The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) stated the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority issued aerodrome certificates to Port Harcourt and Kano on 19-Dec-2025, after a "rigorous and structured" joint regulatory process, taking Nigeria to four certified international airports.1 Nigeria's Federal Executive Council also approved plans to concession Port Harcourt Airport's management, with Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo saying over six investors competed.2
