Pax and cargo almost double in five years: CAAC

CAAC reported (12-Jan-2011) passenger numbers in 2010, the end of the 11th Five-Year plan, nearly doubled (+93%) when compared to 2005, the end of the nation's 10th Five-Year plan. Cargo volume soared 82%. At the end of 2010, the number of registered transportation aircraft in China reached 1604, an increase of 741 on 2005 while general aviation aircraft doubled to 1000. Between 2006 and 2010, 33 airports underwent expansion while 33 new airports were constructed, increasing airports in China to 175 at the end of 2010.
