New Zealand's Government previously announced a 12-month visa waiver trial from Nov-2025 for Chinese passport holders travelling from Australia with valid Australian visas, alongside wider immigration process improvements, with Immigration Minister Erica Stanford citing more than 240,000 Chinese visitor visas granted in 20241. Separately, Air New Zealand, Air China and Tourism New Zealand entered a 12-month strategic marketing investment, with Air New Zealand committing over NZD700,000 to stimulate Chinese travel demand2.
