African Development Bank Group launched the Integrated Aviation Transformation Program on 25/26-Feb-2026, backed by a USD7 billion Aviation Financing and Connectivity Facility intended to leverage private and institutional capital to build an integrated African air transport network1. AfDB director of infrastructure, cities and urban development Mike Salawou said a key objective was providing airlines access to an affordable fleet to increase intra-African connectivity1. AfDB also outlined an Africa-wide aviation financing platform to de-risk priority investments and restore financier confidence2.
