New York City records 48.7 million tourists in 2010; spend of USD31bn

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg stated New York City attracted a record 48.7 million visitors in 2010, a 6.8% year-on-year increase (Bloomberg, 05-Jan-2011). The increase drove up leisure and hospitality jobs in New York by 6600 to more than 320,000 in 2010. Tourists spent USD31 billion in the city in 2010.
