Kenya Airports Authority said Kenya’s President William Ruto stated construction of a “modern world class airport” at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport would begin in 2026, as KAA cited throughput of about 8.6 million passengers in 2025 versus 7.5 million design capacity.1 Kenya’s government also approved a medium term JKIA expansion plan covering terminal, runway, taxiway, apron and airside upgrades, citing projected national demand of 42.1 million passengers p/a by 2050.2
