Melbourne Tullamarine Airport pax up 5% to 2.6m in May-2016
Melbourne Tullamarine Airport reported (20-Jun-2016) a 5% year-on-year increase to 2.6 million passengers in May-2016, including a 3.9% increase to 1.9 million domestic passengers and a 8.3% increase to 633,113 international passengers. Melbourne Airport CEO Lyell Strambi said: "Our sustained growth in international passengers of 8.3% reinforces Melbourne as a premier destination for tourism and business and Victoria continues to outperform the national domestic aviation growth rate. We are working with our airlines customers to match passenger demand in key markets, which includes China and on 1 July we will welcome Xiamen Air's inaugural flight as the airline launches a new direct service to Xiamen city in the south east of China. Melbourne Airport's first premium lounge for Etihad Airways opened in May.
